Haven't felt like posting lately. Sorry 'bout that.

Alot has been going on but I've been in denial about the stress I'm under.

I've even refused to change my countdown timer to the next big event so I don't have to acknowledge the pressure associated with it.

Our lease is up NOV. 5th. I've been whoring myself out to the travel companies to try to get another travel assignment before we end up homeless. I'm licensed in Connecticut and Massachusetts, so I've been working on getting a job somewhere in those states. I'm licensed in Kansas and Missouri too, but I have no desire to move back there, and no money for a cross country move anyway.

The best lead was a 3 month assignment in Cape Cod, which I was cool with, but the nurse there now decided to renew his contract so the position is off the table. There were positions in the southern Boston suburbs, but no word yet on if they're viable. I had my hopes up for a while there. I thought I might have a shot at a free apartment in Downtown Boston.

The Connecticut job was in Waterbury, but my recruiter said the last 2 nurses she's placed there quit before the contract was up. It has to be damn bad to break your contract over it. We get a furnished apartment (all rent and utilities paid) and a competetive wage for the length of the contract, so it must be an awful place to give that up. The only thing to make a nurse do that is a shit-hole facility that endangers the patients and puts the nurse's license in jeopardy.

Another job has popped up in New Haven, and now that has become the prime lead. The contact person at that facility is out of town til next week, so thats another week of not knowing where I'm going or if I'll have a job to go to.

It's the nature of the business, and the price you pay for getting to travel to a new city every 3 months with and no bills to pay but your car insurance and cell phone.

But right now it sucks.

I've got 3 weeks to find a position, get them to hire me, sign all the contract paperwork, pack up our apartment here in Brooklyn, find a storage unit in the city I'm going, get a rental truck, move up there, unload our shit, move in and get settled before starting the new job.

I also have to talk them into letting me take about 5 days off in a row, just 3 weeks into the job. My whole family is expecting the girlfriend and I in KC for Thanksgiving without fail. I can only hope that my offer to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is an adequate trade to them. I may have to throw in New Year's Day also.

I hope not, though. The girlfriend and I haven't gotten to spend 1 New Year's Eve together yet, and it's a really important holiday to her.

Anyway, enough bitching. I got it out and can move on now.

I'm going to go heat up some of the veggie soup I created and pop in a Family Guy tape.

Check out this unfortunate bastard.
