MOS DEF AND MALKOVICH TO HITCHHIKE ACROSS THE GALAXY

That's right boys and girls, a new movie version of that fantastic book starring my favorite actor and the freestyling master of verbal prose himself.

Here's the scoop from a press release:

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy June 2005
Previously a Book, Radio show and TV serise the story of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy branches out once more into the realm of the big screen. This is what everyone has been waiting for and it will definately be worth the wait. As of February 2004 casting has begun and the film is finally getting started.

Filming is due to start on 19 April 2004 with most of it taking place in the UK. The cast list has caused some interesting reactions so far but I think it's looking good with a nice blend of different types of actors that should make up and interesting universe. Below is a list of the characters cast so far:

Arthur Dent - Martin Freeman (Love Actually, Ali G Indahouse)
Ford Prefect - Mos Def (The New Italian Job, ShowTime)
Trillian - Zooey Deschanel (All The Real Girls, Elf)
Slartibartfast - Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Still Crazy, Underworld)
Zaphod Beeblebrox - Sam Rockwell (The Green Mile, Galaxy Quest, Charlie's Angels, Matchstick Men)
Marvin - Warwick Davis (All Harry Potter Films, Star Wars: Episode I and IV, Willow)
Mr Prosser - Steven Pemberton (The League of Gentlemen)
Humma Kavula - John Malkovich (Johnny English, Being John Malkovich, In the Line of Fire, Con Air)
Questular(Vice-President of the Galaxy) - Anna Chancellor (What a Girl Wants, Four Weddings and a Funeral)

Update: Filming has started and there has been some stunning cast news as you can see above. John Malkovich is set to star as a completley new character to the Hitchhikers Universe, Humma Kavula. Humma is apparantly some sort of missionary on the planet Viltvodle VI, home of the Jatravartids, the race from the book who belive in Great Green Arkleseizure and the Coming of the Great White Handkerchief."
